AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Aug. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rhenus Group now has its own entity in New Zealand -- Rhenus Logistics NZ. The first business site commences operation in Auckland on 20 August 2018. Rhenus Logistics NZ will provide comprehensive international and domestic logistic solutions as well as customs consultancy with a strong focus on the customer experience offering both 4PL & 5PL solutions.
Auckland is home to approximately one third of the New Zealand population; it is the largest city in the country and is located on the North Island. The Rhenus Group is aiming to expand its services in Oceania through its first branch in New Zealand.
"Despite New Zealand's geographical distance between supply point and customer markets and the challenges this creates from an international logistics perspective, New Zealand remains a leading supplier for both the global dairy and agriculture industries. New Zealand commodities within these industries are seen as premium products, along with its clean, green image," says Mark Harrison, Managing Director of Rhenus Logistics NZ, who brings 25 years of experience in the NZ transport industry.
A natural focus for activities will be on the imports from both the Asian and European markets, given the high demand for products into New Zealand from these origins. The Trans-Tasman market between Australia and New Zealand will also be a key market.
"Supported by our strong global network, we expect to deliver comprehensive and innovative solutions to our customers, enhancing their supply chain's value through a mutual partnership approach," continues Harrison.
"We've been investing in the expansion of our network in the Asia-Pacific region for several years. We took over the Australian company O'Brien Logistics about one year ago and integrated it within the Rhenus Group. We've also opened many new business sites, for example in South Korea, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and in the Philippines," adds Jan Harnisch, CEO Far East Asia.
The Rhenus Group is a logistics services provider with global business operations and annual turnover of EUR 4.8 billion. Rhenus has business sites at 610 locations worldwide and employs 29,000 people. The Rhenus business areas -- Contract Logistics, Freight Logistics, Port Logistics and Public Transport -- manage complex supply chains and provide a wealth of innovative value-added services.
