Singapore witnessed its largest blockchain conference ever, through Trescon's World Blockchain Summit

The global series marked its grand entry into the Asia Pacific region, with an eventful night filled with knowledge and entertainment
SINGAPORE, July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On 19th and 20th July, World Blockchain Summit just concluded its 4th glorious conference for the year, with the Singapore edition exceeding all expectations. Hosted by global business consulting and events firm Trescon, the summit took place at the luxurious Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore City.
The Singapore edition of the summit was conceptualised and crafted, keeping in mind the financial arsenal at the island country's disposal. Being the 3rd largest 'per capita' income society, and the largest FinTech destination in South Asia, Singapore was the ideal location to host the 4th chapter of the global series. The 2 Day summit saw over 700 attendees including international venture capitalists, blockchain experts and industry leaders, government representatives, technology innovators, and emerging startups gathered together to discuss the immediate impact of the ledger based technology.
Founder of Blockchain platform Cardano and IOHK (Input Output Hong Kong), as well as being the ex-Co-Founder of the Ethereum platform, and member of the The Dao Project, Charles Hoskinson was present on Day 1 of the summit to discuss the '3rd Generation of Blockchain', as well the need for blockchain governance.
Hoskinson, at the summit, had said that "The goal of crypto-currency isn't decentralization, but rather the removal of all the middlemen in the process. There are some middlemen that add a lot of value to the transaction, but most of them are middlemen of necessity".
Apart from numerous panel discussion and tech-talks at the summit, an important panel discussion regarding the regulatory framework and possible charter laws around blockchain implementation and cryptocurrency regulation was discussed at length, on Day 1. Chairman for the board of ACCESS (Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups, Singapore), Anson Zeall, was also present on the panel.
During the discussion, Anson had said that "Innovation comes from the bottom, not the top with the mission being the immediate inclusivity. For any industry, there is a viable use of blockchain technology. It is not confined to the FinTech industry only"!
The summit even played host to private venture capitalists and investment firms. Alex Medana, CEO and Co-Founder of FinFabrik, which is an incubation firm for financial service providers, was in attendance. Darius Sit from QCP Capital, Marvelstone investments, XSQ, Node Capital, SKYSTAR Capital, QCP Capital and Mindworks Ventures were some of the other leading names present at the event. They provided the budding entrepreneurs and startups with the necessary knowledge and support, to promote growth.
The regional qualifiers of the 'Startup World Cup', on Day 2, featured 20 startups delivering elevator pitches to an esteemed panel of judges. 'Discoperi' won, and they received an all-expenses paid trip to compete at the 'Startup World Cup' 2019 in California, where they could walk away with the US$ 1 Million grand prize.
The ICO Grand Slam invited premier and pre-approved ICOs to come forward and pitch their company in front of a group of VCs and investors. 'Grapevine' was adjudged the winner.
