Students to get shot at advertising fame in 24-hour Crowbar challenge

SINGAPORE - Impossible briefs, tight deadlines and instant fame. All these things are part and parcel of the advertising industry.

Not everyone is cut out for it, and not everyone will survive the intense competition.

This July, selected students enrolled in various advertising, design or marketing courses in polytechnics and institutions will vie for the chance to be the industry's biggest starlets in the Crowbar 24-Hour Advertising Challenge.

The Crowbar challenge was named as such to signify the high barriers of entry for newbies who wish to make it big in advertising.

The gruelling 24-hour race will see 15 teams race against time to come up with an original advertising campaign based on a real-world brief given by a client company.

Held in collaboration with SPH Digital, this year's challenge is scheduled to take place from July 21 to 22.

The winning team will not only walk away glorious, it will also take home $500 in cash and a Crowbar trophy made entirely out of chocolate. Yum!
