ThoughtWorks Bags Top Honours at Asia Recruitment Awards 2019

ThoughtWorks Singapore recognised for enduring efforts in cultivating best-in-class diversity and recruitment practices

SINGAPORE, April 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- ThoughtWorks, a global software consultancy, took home the bronze and silver awards in the 'Best Diversity & Inclusion Strategy' and 'Best Graduate Recruitment Programme' categories respectively, at the Asia Recruitment Awards 2019 – the leading benchmark within the recruitment industry.

"An enduring advocate of inclusion in the workplace, diversity has been ingrained in the ThoughtWorks company culture since its founding," said Jessie Xia, Managing Director, ThoughtWorks Southeast Asia. "We're honoured to be recognised at the Asia Recruitment Awards 2019 - this is a strong testament that our efforts are showing increasingly positive results."

ThoughtWorks is a three-time winner of the Top Companies for Women Technologists by AnitaB.org, a non-profit organisation focused on the advancement of women in computing. Further cementing its position as a champion for diversity, ThoughtWorks took home top awards last year in 'Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion' and 'Excellence in Employer Branding' at the HR Excellence Awards 2018 in Singapore.

Inspiring the next generation of technologists

With competition for tech talent heating up in Singapore and around the world, employers are increasingly focusing on talent acquisition and development. ThoughtWorks is committed to training, growing and hiring a diverse team of passionate and talented individuals.

ThoughtWorks currently runs the Tech Immersion Programme, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), which aims to provide university graduates, entry-level software developers, and mid-career switchers intensive, hands-on training in agile software development. Through the 12-month programme, ThoughtWorks technologists mentor consultants  to develop specialised skills in agile engineering practices, such as test-Driven Development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI). As part of ThoughtWorks' immersive graduate recruitment programme, all fresh graduates who join ThoughtWorks attend a five-week training program at ThoughtWorks University (TWU), held in China or India.

Additionally, ThoughtWorks currently runs JumpStart!, a programme supported by the Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore, offering 3 months of coaching and mentoring for individuals from non-ICT backgrounds, with the goal of building a more diverse tech talent pipeline in Singapore. The programme has seen tremendous success and traction so far with the 5th batch launching in July.
