Tsinghua University and Nuctech Co-constructed Chinese National Engineering Laboratory for Dangerous Articles and Explosives Detection Technologies

BEIJING, Jan. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chinese National Engineering Laboratory for Dangerous Articles and Explosives Detection Technologies launched in Tsinghua University on January 11, 2017. Xue Qikun, vice president of Tsinghua University, and Chen Jinghua, the relevant leader of the Ministry of Public Security, jointly inaugurated the laboratory, and the first working conference of the lab was held the same day.

The laboratory was co-constructed by Tsinghua University and Nuctech around the central task of fast and accurate detection of hazardous and explosive substances, the lab will build an applied research platform and conduct the R&D and engineering work of technologies and systems including MMW/Terahertz radiation scanning, big data analysis, risk control based on biometric recognition, and fast scanning of important places to support the technical progress and industry development of hazardous and explosive substances detection.

Xue Qikun, vice president of Tsinghua University, will be the chairman of the council and Chen Zhiqiang, holder of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and the president of Nuctech, will be the director of the lab. During the conference, Director Chen Zhiqiang presented a report on the progress of first year's work of the lab.
