UCommune issues "Declaration on Entrepreneurial Action of Social Impact" at United Nations

BEIJING, Nov. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- UCommune discussed "Entrepreneurial ventures in China in a New Era" and talked about shaping China's innovative spirit, fostering innovative corporate social responsibility, and creating sustainable development formats at the recently held Global CSR Summit.

The Global CSR Summit was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on October 30, attended by nearly 100 representatives from the UN, NGOs, businesses and the media from various countries. They addressed the challenges, exchanged their shared vision as global citizens, and reached a joint declaration to incorporate CSR into core business strategies, accelerating the realization of the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals ("SDGs").

UCommune chairman, Dr. Mao Daqing, was given the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for his outstanding contributions. UCommune and the Global Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation jointly issued the "Declaration on Entrepreneurial Action of Social Impact".

The Global CSR Summit is being held amid new challenges to sustainable development. At the summit, Alison Smale, Deputy Secretary-General for Global Communications of the United Nations Department of Public Information, White Hopkins, former Vice-President of the United Nations Business Council, John Allen, President of the Chinese Culture Foundation, and Harry Edison, Chairman of the China Investment Group, made keynote speeches. "Sustainable development is a marathon, not a sprint. We hope that today's activities can be the first step in our journey," said Bruce Knotts, chairman of the UN NGO Committee as well as summit sponsor representative, in a written statement.

Participants noted that globalization has hit a rough patch. Unilateralism and protectionism have arisen, geopolitical hotspots and terrorism have emerged, and both the current international order and the multilateral trading system have been severely impacted. This has adversely affected the pursuit of UN sustainable development goals.

On behalf of Dr. Mao Daqing, Zhang Peng, Chief Innovation Officer and Director of Corporate Social Responsibility Business at UCommune, said in a video speech at the conference that UCommune is the most representative innovation platform in China which has four years' experience in serving innovative enterprises, and has built a complete ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship services. At present, UCommune is actively exploring how to share its experience with college students, disabled people and veterans in order to contribute to social stability and sustainable innovation.

Lei Xueshan, UCommune assistant president, issued the "Declaration on Entrepreneurial Action of Social Impact" at UN Headquarters, on behalf of UCommune and other institutions, including the Global Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility. Participants unanimously reached a consensus on "integrating CSR into core business strategies to accelerate the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals by 2030", pledging to participate in an integrated approach to solving social, economic and environmental issues, and to help partners around the world move towards sustainable development.

UCommune was founded with CSR as part of its core mission, so it's no surprise the company received the UN's Corporate Social Responsibility Award. As a co-sponsor of the "Declaration on Entrepreneurial Action of Social Impact", UCommune will focus on encouraging innovation and leading entrepreneurs to build sustainable corporate values to improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem in accordance with the UN sustainable development goals.

Since the beginning of 2018, UCommune has worked with the UNDP, the United Nations Labor Organization, the World Health Organization, the China Women's & Children's Fund and the Ginkgo Foundation on youth innovation, employment integration of vulnerable groups and college students, office environment, and female entrepreneurs. UCommune will continue to promote "sharing, opening, linking, and empowerment", and encourage enterprises to pursue sustainable development.
