weTouch: Makeup make women more attractive? 85% of Malaysian guys prefer natural look

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Dec. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- "Single bell, single bell, single all the way…'', this is definitely what most of the single people in Malaysia are feeling for this Christmas season. During this season, all couples are busy planning for a romantic date, exchanging gifts, while the Malaysian singles are looking for their potential partners to celebrate this Christmas with.

Popular social app weTouch conducted an in-app survey in major cities of Malaysia, asking its male users what they think about women's makeup. The research found that 85% of weTouch's male users prefer women with a natural look, whereas only 10% Malaysian guys are fond of heavy makeup. Other 5% said it depends on the circumstances.

Looking at how men select women while swiping through various weTouch app profiles, data shows that women who wear light makeup or without any makeup receive 80% more likes than women who apply heavy makeup. On the other hand, 70% female users like to apply light to medium makeup. This shows that applying makeup does help women to be liked, provided it is done in the right way, as 85% of Malaysian guys are adopting the "less is more" attitude.

When it comes to which cosmetic products are preferred over others, 68% of female users believe that bright red shaded lipstick makes them look more appealing and classy, but surprisingly, bright red shaded lipstick is a big "NO!" for Malaysian guys unless they are attending a special event. Else, the woman may seem to be "trying too hard".

In addition, 82% of female users apply eye makeup products, such as eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara, 70% among them prefer neutral eyeshadows. A whopping 75% of men like women who apply simple eye makeup. It is also reflected in the weTouch data that women who apply nude eyeshadow shades and thin eyeliner in their profile pictures receive 70% more first messages than those with smoky eyes.

Hairstyle is one of the most important parts of a woman's appearance. 70% of Malaysian men prefer long hair over short hair women, and 60% of weTouch users reported to like women with natural hair over dyed. It highlights that Malaysian guys prefer natural beauty, as women with natural hair and minimal makeup seem friendly, easy-going and approachable.
