CCTV catches medical workers fighting mid-operation

With your life hanging in the balance, the operating theatre is the last place you would want a fight to break out.

Yet, making its way around the internet is CCTV footage of a fight erupting between two medical workers, mid-operation.

The 45-second clip on Facebook has since amassed 278,000 views and been shared more than 2,000 times.

The one-on-one brawl reportedly occurred on May 12, at a medical facility in Lankao County, China's Henan Province.

In the video, two workers wearing hospital scrubs are having a verbal argument which quickly escalates into a fistfight.

The man angrily throws his gloves at a female colleague, only to be met with a quick punch to the face. Furious, he retaliates by raining successive blows to her head then storms out after she collapses to the ground.

Thankfully, at least one of the surgeons calmly continues to operate on the patient as the other medical workers try to stop the fracas.

Shanghaiist reported that a local police officer claimed that the operation had ended and the patient had been wheeled out of the room. But skeptical netizens dispute this, as the footage clearly shows the surgery still going on.

According to the Daily Mail, witnesses at the hospital claimed the two workers were a doctor and a nurse who were romantically involved. The argument started when the male doctor accused the woman of violating protocol during the operation. The fight broke out after she denied it.

According to the hospital, the pair did not sustain serious injuries and management has agreed to overlook the matter, treating it as a personal quarrel between the couple.
