Woman killed by iron frame that fell from Hong Kong building

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter after a woman was killed by a falling iron frame at a residential block in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

The 63-year-old pedestrian was knocked unconscious outside a shopping arcade at Mayfair Gardens, off Sai Shan Road, Tsing Yi, at about 2.30pm.

A police spokesman said the victim was taken to Yan Chai Hospital in Tsuen Wan for treatment.

She was later certified dead in hospital.

The spokesman said an initial investigation showed the frame had fallen from one of the flats in the residential building overhead.

Police later arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the case, a spokesman said on Tuesday evening.

Officers from Kwai Tsing criminal investigation unit were handling the case.
