World's largest spokeless Ferris wheel opens in China

A giant Ferris wheel in the city of Weifang, Shandong province, was opened to the public, Saturday (May 27).

Standing at 145 metres high, it has become the world's largest spokeless Ferris wheel.

Overlooking the Bailang River, the Ferris wheel attracted crowds of tourists and locals alike.

"People get engaged here. The Ferris wheel will also look very nice during fireworks," said one of the visitors.

"I am very proud that it is the largest and highest ferris wheel with no axis," added a local resident going on, "Weifang tourism will boost."

Up to 360 people can ride on the big wheel at the same time, enjoying spectacular views of the Bailang River.

Should the visitors get overwhelmed with the scenery, each carriage is equipped with an individual television set and Wi-Fi.
