Chinese mobile phone-maker Hwawei has become the number two choice of brand for Sri Lankan smartphone users.
According to a statement by Hwawei Technologies Lanka in December last year, its smartphones gained a 15.5 per cent market shipment share in the third quarter of 2013.
"The first two months of the quarter witnessed a drop in overall mobile phone shipments into Sri Lanka. This was primarily due to the seasonal impact and shortage of inventory, caused by some issues between retailers and distributors.
"However, the market started picking up in September, with new launches by tier-I vendors and a sales push by operators via package promotions and data schemes," the statement read.
