Crystal Jade adds foie gras to festive menu

SINGAPORE - Chinese restaurant chain Crystal Jade has rolled out new items at all its outlets, including its My Bread bakeries, to commemorate Chinese New Year.

The festive dine-in menu for its fine-dining restaurants (Crystal Jade Palace, Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Crystal Jade Dining IN and Crystal Jade Prestige) includes Chilled Asparagus ($20), which comes arranged like a prosperity plant, and Trio Treasures ($16), a combination of braised duck, roasted suckling pig and foie gras - an unusual offering in Chinese cuisine.

Crystal Jade Kitchen diners can try dishes such as Thai-Style Pork Knuckle ($28) and Sauteed Scallop & Coral Mussel With XO Sauce ($28).

And there's a new flavour for fans of Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao's steamed pork dumplings: herbal. Available at $6 for four pieces, one of the dumplings will have a red date within, following the tradition of hiding a gold coin in a dumpling during Chinese New Year. The person who gets that dumpling is said to be blessed with good luck in the year ahead.

For lo hei, Crystal Jade is serving the Prosperity Yusheng With Abalone and Red Pomegranate ($88 or $138, below, available at its fine-dining restaurants) and the Reunion Baby Abalone Yusheng ($44.80 or $66.80, available at Crystal Jade Jiangnan, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao and Crystal Jade Kitchen) this year, on top of the standard salmon yusheng. They are available for both dine-in and takeaway, but quantities are limited.

At Crystal Jade My Bread, there's the Eternal Bliss Sampling Platter ($39.80), which comes in a hexagon-shaped box and comprises carrot, yam, water chestnut, egg and glutinous rice cakes, among others.

The pastries are available till Feb 7 for takeaway only. The dine-in menus are available till Feb 22.
