THE recently completed mixed developments at Clementi Town Centre and Punggol Waterway have bagged the top honours at the Housing Board (HDB) Design Awards this year.

This adds to their growing collection of local and international accolades, said HDB in a statement yesterday.

An HDB spokesman said: "The projects now provide both towns with a strengthened distinctive identity and character."

HDB had won the the Global Superior Achievement Award for Punggol Waterway at a ceremony held in South Korea last month.

In May, Clementi Town Centre won the annual prestigious Fiabci Prix d'Excellence award as well as the runner-up award in the Master Plan category at a ceremony held in St Petersburg in Russia.

The HDB Awards are meant to affirm the efforts of industry partners in working together with HDB to provide quality public housing for Singaporeans, said the spokesman.

There are two categories of HDB Awards: the Design Awards and Construction Awards.

The upcoming Build-To-Order (BTO) project in Bukit Batok, Skyline I and II, also secured top honours in the Design Awards category.

A total of seven HDB Design Awards and 14 HDB Construction Awards will be presented to consultants and contractors at a gala dinner next Tuesday for demonstrating excellence in design and construction quality in the development of HDB projects.
