Apple updates its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro for back-to-school season

In late May, Apple updated the 15-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro with Intel's latest processors and a third-generation butterfly keyboards.

And now, Apple has just refreshed the MacBook Air and gave the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro some long overdue upgrades.

The MacBook Air gains a True Tone display for a more natural viewing experience, and an improved keyboard design with an entry price of S$1,599. Students can get the base model of the MacBook Air at a special price of S$1,449. That's a price drop of S$190 from the previous base price.

The entry-level MacBook Pro is updated with the latest Intel's 8th generation quad-core Core i5 and i7 processors, Touch ID, Touch Bar, an improved keyboard design, a True Tone Retina display and Apple T2 Security Chip. Sadly, it still only has two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports. It has a base price of S$1,899 and a special price of S$1,749 for students. This means Apple no longer sells a MacBook Pro without a Touch Bar.

The updated MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are part of Apple's Back to School promotion which includes a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with every purchase of a qualifying Mac notebook or iMac, and educational discounts on qualifying Mac, iPad, AppleCare, select accessories and services.
