Photographer rakes in $19k in one day on Instagram

NEW YORK - Photographer Daniel Arnold was broke, but a desperate attempt to cover his rent by selling prints of his Instagram photos made him nearly US$15,000 (around S$19,000) in just one day, Forbes.com said.

Of course, he is not just any Instagram user. Lauded by Gawker as "the best photographer on Instagram" two years ago, he has 22,000 followers. His works of urban voyeurism include a "pantless Santa Claus on the subway".

He had US$90.03 in his bank account when he posted this message on Instagram:

"Hello, I just turned 34 this second. For one day only, I am selling 4×6 prints of whatever you want from my Instagram archive for $150 each. I swear I will never sell anything this cheap again. If you're interested, send a screenshot of the photo(s) of your choice to arnoldaniel@gmail.com ..."

The response was overwhelming. A day later, he had nearly US$15,000 worth of requests.
