As a car seller, getting the best price for a car can be a frustrating experience, from having to fob off overzealous agents to chasing dealers who will not return your call.
Now, you can get the highest quote from a network of dealers within three working days just by filling in a form or placing a call.
A platform launched last November, Wheel Deal, brings together sellers and dealers and streamlines the onerous car-selling experience.
Car owners who want to sell their vehicle can give their details to Wheel Deal - via phone, mail, or through an online form - and an employee from Wheel Deal will contact agents in its network for quotes.
If the seller accepts the quote, Wheel Deal will connect the two parties. There is no charge to customers, but Wheel Deal takes a 1.5 per cent commission from dealers. For scrap cars, they earn a flat $100.
The platform was created by Singapore Press Holdings' marketing division.
Ms Florence Tan, senior advertisement sales director at SPH Print Classified Call Centre, said that Wheel Deal will help owners gather more information about the used car market as easily as possible.
"Not every car owner is familiar with the used car market," she said. "Most car owners trade in their cars when they buy a new one and are not aware that other car dealers may buy their used cars at a higher price."
Since its launch, the platform has received over 3,000 queries and transacted more than 200 cars.
Currently, there are about seven used car dealers in Wheel Deal's network, and Ms Tan said that there are plans to expand this to between 20 and 30.
It also plans to hold live auction events, where car owners can put their car on the block for dealers to bid on, as well as to expand from targeting individuals to targeting companies with fleets of vehicles that they may be looking to sell.
