ZenFone's a hit for Asus

TAIPEI - It is a struggle for many mobilephone makers to survive these days as Apple takes the lion's share of the industry's profits, but one company managed to generate profits last month.

According to DigiTimes, Taiwanese computer hardware and electronics company Asus managed to make profits last month from the shipment of over 1.5 million handsets.

Asus expects the shipment to increase to two million by the end of this month.

Apparently, much of the success is attributed to the ZenFone 2 series, which recently hit retail shelves in the United States and Singapore.

The sales momentum is likely to grow next month, when the recently announced ZenFone Selfie and ZenPad tablets will be available for purchase.

Asus aims to ship between eight and 10 million tablets this year.
