PETALING JAYA - Making a good impression at a job interview takes more than just fashionable dressing, says corporate trainer Karen Lewis.
Dressing right is important, but interviewers are looking for candidates who stand out from the crowd, said the former flight attendant.
Apart from being a corporate trainer for Inter-Excel, Lewis is also a pre-screening interviewer for Saudi Arabian Airlines and Singapore Airlines. Lewis will be giving a talk on "Grooming for Success" at the Star Education Fair to be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Dec 15 and Dec 16.
She was also once a cabin crew recruiter for British Airways and has been trained to ask the right questions to find suitable candidates for the job.
"I will also give advice on what to expect at interviews, the questions that might be posed and what is expected of candidates too," she added.
Lewis said her training gives students a better chance at an interview, noting that the last interview with Singapore Airlines saw a much higher success rate for her trainees.
The Star Education Fair offers study options and career guidance to enhance career prospects and stay competitive in the job market.
There will be other speakers who will give talks on "Options after SPM", "Funding higher education", "Study and work overseas" and even advice on industry-specific career paths.

The fair will be open from 11am to 7pm with fun activities that include personality and aptitude tests, psychology games and live demonstrations.
