All eyes on Indian actress Akshara

With famous actors Kamal Hassan and Sarika Thakur as parents, it's no wonder Akshara Hassan is generating buzz ahead of her debut in upcoming Hindi movie Shamitabh.

The 23-year-old will star alongside Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush in the movie, set for release on Feb 6. Some facts about Akshara:

Before standing in front of the camera, Akshara stood behind it. She was the assistant director for Rahul Dholakia in the 2010 film Society, which starred her mother. She was also assistant director for her father for his 2013 film Vishwaroopam.

She turned down offers to act while working as an assistant director, famously rejecting a role in Kadal, directed by Mani Ratnam.

Unlike her sister Shruti Hassan who is singing the song Sannata for Akshara's upcoming movie Shamitabh, Akshara has openly admitted that she is a terrible singer.

Her parents are divorced, so she lives with her mother in Mumbai while maintaining regular phone contact with her father, who lives in Chennai.

She got her first tattoo done when she was 20 and within the next 21/2 years she got nine more.

Akshara attended the Indus International School in Bengaluru, which has been ranked the best school in India for the past three years by education portal Education World.

She respects Shah Rukh Khan and one of her dreams as an actress is to work with him.

She dated actor Vivaan Shah for two years.

Akshara trained in ballroom dancing and won the bronze test in the UK Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing when she was just 16.

Back in her high school days she regularly played football, her favourite sport. She has said she regrets missing the opportunity to watch the 2014 World Cup, as she was too busy shooting for Shamitabh.

She loves video games, and has said she can't stop herself from grabbing a console when one is nearby.

Akshara is close childhood friends with actor Tanuj Virwani. Their parents, Ratni Agnihotri and Kamal, played lovers in the romantic musical Ek Duuje Ke Liye.

She has moved to Delhi where she will stay for a few months to improve on her Hindi.
