Andy Lau's film Firestorm to open ScreenSingapore

Hong Kong actors Andy Lau and Gordon Lam are set to walk the red carpet here at the annual ScreenSingapore event, which will be held at Marina Bay Sands from Dec 3 to 6.

The actors will be here for the world premiere of their film, Firestorm, which will be the opening film for the third edition of ScreenSingapore.

Firestorm is the directorial debut of Alan Yuen, who worked on the screenplays of Benny Chan's New Police Story (2004) and Shaolin (2011).

The film is co-produced by Hong Kong producer Bill Kong and Lau. The plot revolves around an inspector (played by Lau) who is forced to cross moral lines in order to hunt down a gang of seasoned criminals. Other cast members include Lam (Infernal Affairs), Hu Jun (Bodyguards & Assassins) and Yao Chen (Caught In The Web).

"Firestorm is one of the most anticipated Asian movies in recent years and we are very happy that the producers and superstar Andy Lau have chosen Singapore to be the venue for the world premiere of this spectacular movie," said Mr Lim Teck, managing director of Clover Films, one of the co-distributors of the movie in Singapore.

ScreenSingapore will feature three nights of international film premieres, as well as a series of industry keynotes and panel discussions by international executives, producers, directors, sales agents and talent.

Firestorm will screen in cinemas here on Dec 12.
