Burberry Prorsum's Bloomsbury set fills its latest runway with flowers

The front row: Harry Styles, Tinie Tempah, Bradley Cooper, Naomie Harris, Carina Lau, Mario Testino, Felicity Jones

Inspiration: The Bloomsbury set, made up of legendary writers, painters and intellectuals like Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell, whose meeting place was a house in Charleston.

The looks: It's always a treat to see how Christopher Bailey recreates the trench every season. In his hands, the Burberry signature has been transformed into a rubber raincoat, adorned with palm-sized embellishments and reincarnated into a lace number.

For Autumn Winter 2014, Bailey again surprised with a new, almost-unrecognisable version of the trench. We did a double take when the first model, Matilda Lowther, appeared in a trench coat poncho.

The designer called the collection the Bloomsbury girls and the models were transformed into modern-day bohemians who Bailey imagined flitting around the literary Bloomsbury set.

Hand-painted flowers of every variety - from abstract to graffiti-style - were scrawled over everything; the outerwear, scarves, dresses, bags and shoes.

The scarves played a huge part in the collection, most of the looks incorporated a huge scarf looped around the neck and cinched with a belt, the ends fluttering with the models' movements.

Even though the outerwear and dresses were midi length, legs were revealed, thanks to thigh high slits.

Besides the trench coat ponchos and relaxed trenchcoats, blankets will keep the Bloomsbury girl warm and toasty.

When done in the more geometric tartan and stripes, the blankets sometimes languishing on one shoulder, went hand in hand with the florals.

The final walk was a true sight to behold, when 50 models paraded in a line, bearing personalised blankets - each proudly bore the model's initials - thrown over their shoulders. Of course, they got to take them home.

The accessories: Handpainted floral bags and shoes completed the look. The new Burberry Prorsum bag, the Bloomsbury, was decorated with the same flowers, other artwork, stripes and plaids.
