Carina Lau brushes off rumours

HONG KONG - Actress Carina Lau played it cool when, at the opening of her three restaurants on Thursday, she was asked about her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai's new leading role in a tabloid story with actress Zhou Xun.

Lau was recently reported to be checking on Leung's whereabouts with her mobile phone as he was linked to Zhou in gossip headlines (apparently Zhou, 38, had grown fond of Leung and was using actor Nicholas Tse, 33, to get his attention).

But Lau, 47, said on Thursday: "Do you think I'm the type? I'm so busy."

Then she changed the subject and talked about her eateries, said Sing Tao Daily. She joked that her husband was a daye, or a lord, and that she did not dare ask him to a tasting before her restaurants were ready.

Leung was at his wife's side at the opening of the three eateries at The One, a mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. Two of them, Tapagria and Zurriola, serve Spanish food and the third, Kyo-Shun, offers Kyoto cuisine.

Leung said he did not have any money in the restaurants, which Lau described as a seven-figure investment.

The 51-year-old actor said: "I'm so damn stupid. I've been in the business for so long and I just know how to make movies."
