Cecilia Cheung seen giving food to needy in HDB heartland

SINGAPORE - She may have been living here for less than 3 months but Cecilia Cheung is already doing her bit for society.

The Hong Kong actress, who settled in Singapore with her two sons late last year, was spotted giving out packed lunches and fruit to elderly residents at an HDB void deck this week.

Local charity Willing Hearts uploaded photos and videos of the Hong Kong star bending down and labouring to give out 300 packets of food to needy citizens. The former wife of actor Nicholas Tse also helped to cook food for beneficiaries at the charity's kitchen.

In a self-taken video clip, the actress thanked a Hong Kong sponsor for donating US$5,000 to the charity. Willing Hearts said on its Facebook page that the donor had given the amount as he was touched by Cheung's work at the charity.

Cheung was praised not only for helping out with the distribution of food, but also for her generosity when several of them requested to take photos with her.

Willing Hearts said on its Facebook page: "To bend down picking up 300 lunch packs & punnets of pears for handing out to the beneficiaries can be quite a back breaking exercise. It was a pleasant surprise for them to see Cecilia and several requested to pose with her.

"She lovingly gave them warm hugs & kisses on their cheeks when handing out the packs," the charity added.
