The tax authority in China has finally responded to the case of Chinese star Fan Bingbing, who has dropped out of public view for more than three months, China Press reported.
Jiangsu's provincial tax service department said the investigation was ongoing and the authority would publish a statement on the results of the probe in due course.
Fan is said to be home but not allowed to contact others.
However, her whereabouts remain unknown as her team has not responded to various requests from media outlets for comments.
Her mysterious disappearance has caught attention not only in China but internationally. On her 37th birthday on Sept 16, the actress briefly made an online appearance on Weibo before the birthday message was swiftly deleted.
Fan is embroiled in the use of "yin-yang" contracts allegedly to evade taxes. Such contracts are illegal dual arrangements where the document submitted to the tax authority has a lower figure while the one given to the star has the actual higher fee.
