Chinese actress Nie Xin dies from injuries a year after car accident

CHINA - Chinese actress Nie Xin, who was involved in a car accident last year, has succumbed to her injuries and passed away in hospital on June 30.

According to CNTV.com, the 34-year-old star was on her way back to her hotel after filming scenes for her next project last January when the car accident occurred.

She was said to have suffered severe injuries and became paraplegic after, reports various Chinese media sources.

Nie's parents announced her passing on her personal micro-blogging site Weibo on June 30. They revealed that Nie had been in critical condition at around 7am and despite five hours of attempt to save her, she was pronounced dead at 1.30pm.

Her parents also informed fans and followers of her funeral details and left a touching message. They hoped that she would be able to smile like she used to, as there is no suffering in the heavens.

Since her obituary was released, netizens have been pouring their condolences to her family. One netizen wrote that he hoped Nie would be able to continue her aspirations in the other world, reported news site Xinhua.
