Forensic Heroes IV was a record-breaking success for TVB, outdoing all three of its predecessors in terms of viewership.
The fourth instalment of the series was meant to be director Mui Siu Ching's final production before retirement. However, some sources have stated that Mui will now be producing one last sequel starring Kelly Cheung.
Cheung's character was originally meant as the final criminal in Forensic Heroes IV, but after TVB's approval for a subsequent season, the final episodes of the show were rewritten so that they could pave the way for a new story.
A scene was even added to tease the possibility of a fifth instalment to the franchise.
According to Weekender HK, Cheung is enthusiastic about the possibility of a fifth season.
Aside from Cheung, former cast members Raymond Wong, Shaun Tam, Alice Chan and Rebecca Zhu will also be returning.
However, Selena Lee, whose contract with TVB has ended, is unlikely to be re-cast.
Sources also stated that Mui has contacted the leads of Forensic Heroes I and II, as she intends to bring them back as special guests.
However, Mui and TVB have not commented on the fifth season.
