Girls' Generation: Pretty in pink

Nothing screams "girl power" quite like the colour pink.

So it was only fitting that Girls' Generation took to the stage on Saturday evening dressed in striking outfits of that hue.

Beautiful and sassy in glitzy pink togs, the girls of the top South Korean sensation showed why they continue to reign supreme by delivering a breath-taking and spectacular show.

They were not the only ones looking pretty in pink.

Most of the 8,000 fans - both female and male - went to the Singapore Indoor Stadium wearing tops in varying shades of pink.

It was an extra show of support for their idols at their Girls & Peace concert. Nanyang Technological University mechanical engineering undergraduate Khairul Azman, 24, had seen the girls thrice in Singapore previously.

This time, he was there with four friends.

"I like their interaction... and their music is very different live," he said.

World Tour

Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun, aged 22 to 24, were in Singapore as part of their 2013 Girls' Generation World Tour Girls & Peace.

It was their second solo concert here after performing at sold-out shows in 2011.

Their show on Saturday, which was also sold out, lasted three hours and saw impressive concert theatrics like elaborate videos, laser lights, "explosions", sprays of confetti and even holograms.

The girls kicked off the night with Hoot followed by Animal. They also sang their hits like Gee, I Got A Boy, Oh! and The Boys, which were clearly a sampling of the crowd favourites, prompting sing-a-longs.

In between songs, the nine members would go to the corners of the big stage to wave to and blow kisses at fans, occasionally sneaking in a playful wink or two.

As they sailed through the 27-song setlist while flawlessly executing wellchoreographed routines, the girls also squeezed in an impressive number of wardrobe changes.

Their seven stage outfits, each shinier than the one before, included pink and black micro shorts, tulle skirts and sequin- embellished dresses and tops, and the girls wore both knee-high and thighhigh boots.

Throughout the show, they made it a point to interact with their fans and individually address the excited crowd, thanking them and declaring how happy they were to be in Singapore.

Said Tiffany to the fans: "From beginning to the end, it only gets hotter and hotter. Today is the best. Most of the time, fans thank us, but we want to thank you for getting us so pumped up and giving us a great show."
