Hong Kong star Aaron Kwok turns 50 with star-studded celebration

HONG KONG - Listen up, girls: Singer-actor Aaron Kwok is 50 and ready for marriage.

The Heavenly King, whose birthday fell yesterday, celebrated turning the big 5-0 in a 25+25-themed party on Sunday, which also marked his 25th anniversary in showbiz.

Thinking he was attending a normal birthday dinner at a hotel, he had a surprise when he opened the door and saw not just his mother but also longtime friends - including stars Julian Cheung and wife Anita Yuen, Shawn Yue and Miriam Yeung with husband Real Ting and their son - as well as colleagues.

Yue later posted a picture on Instagram, showing the birthday boy on stage with a microphone, against a sign which read "25AaronKwok25 Happy Birthday".

According to Oriental Daily, Kwok wished that his mum would have good health and to see more career breakthroughs.

He added: "Wish that I would meet Miss Right, set up a family and receive the blessings of everyone."

On Weibo yesterday, he thanked his friends and shared pictures of the party, including one of him and his mum cutting the birthday cake.

His desire to marry was evident as he wrote: "While I continue to work hard, I hope to get married soon and have a family."

At the party, friends including Chow Yun Fat, Zhang Ziyi, Jacky Cheung, Charlie Young, Louis Koo and Alan Tam also sent their birthday greetings via video.
