Jackie Chan's son Jaycee and Taiwan actor Kai Ko arrested in Beijing over drug charges

International star Jackie Chan's son and Taiwanese actor Kai Ko have been arrested in Beijing on drug-related charges.

Chinese online and state media reported that Ko, 23, was detained by Beijing police for drug use, along with his friend, Jaycee, 31.

Ko shot to fame playing a charming schoolboy besotted with his classmate in 2011's You Are The Apple Of My Eye.

China Central Television confirmed Ko's arrest this afternoon after rumours spread among Chinese Internet users. The two celebrities also reportedly failed to update their Weibo social media accounts since last Tuesday.

Ko's manager expressed concern over being unable to locate the Taiwan star when contacted by the media.

Apple Daily Taiwan cited an unnamed source as saying both Ko, 23, and Chan, 31, were nabbed in Beijing late last Tuesday night.

South China Morning Post reported that their arrest made them part of a growing list of celebrities that include China, Hong Kong and Taiwan stars who have been detained in Beijing's crackdown on celebrity drug use in the last two years.

They could also face possible criminal charges.

Kai Ko famously split from his former girlfriend, Taiwanese singer-entertainer Elva Hsiao, and even took his relationship woes online. Hsiao confirmed that she has not been in touch with Ko since they parted ways.
