Jackie dismisses nuzzle

BEIJING - Jackie Chan used a press conference announcing his 60th birthday concert to comment on online criticism that he cuddled a top female singer at a political meeting.

"There's nothing to fuss about. It's very common," the China News Service quoted the actor as saying on Monday about nuzzling Chinese folk singer Song Zuying cheek to jowl at a Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference meeting on March 5.

The photo of him enjoying his snuggle in Beijing went viral after it was posted last week.

Netizens blasted him, with one writing, "You think you are filming? Take your paws off her shoulders." Another asked him if he knew the difference between a cocktail party and a political advisory body.

Song was photographed in uniform looking tickled as Chan surprised her from behind.

"I was behind her that day. She turned around and said, 'Oh, it's you.' Actually, I'm used to it. I'm always like this. Only this time it got photographed and published," Chan told reporters in Beijing.

Earlier, he stole a similar cuddle with the female emcee of the press conference and joked: "Do you want to be a headline tomorrow?"

Some 1,000 fans from 52 countries will attend his charity Peace Love Friendship concert in Beijing on April 6, China News said.

Chan, who turns 60 on April 7, will foot their China travel expenses and take them on a tour of the Forbidden City and to eat Peking Duck. The day after, they will visit the Jackie Chan Museum in Shanghai.

Chan said many celebrities will take part in the concert, gratis. They include Jay Chou, Wang Leehom, Nicholas Tse, Jonathan Lee, Lang Lang, Coco Lee, Kim Hee Sun, Leo Ku, K-pop boy band Exo and Chan's son Jaycee, the concert organiser.

Song, 47, dubbed Queen of Chinese Folk Songs, is the director of the Navy song and dance troupe for the People's Liberation Army.
