John Abraham gives himself hockey team on birthday

John Abraham is now officially the proud co-owner of Delhi Waveriders team.

John was supposed to buy a 13 per cent stake in the team but he went ahead and bought the team on a 50-50 basis with the Wave Group.

The actor-producer, who is in Dubai, is shooting for his upcoming movie Welcome Back.

"Hockey is very special to me as it's our national sport. It's a nice place to be in. We have really excelled in hockey," John told Mid Day. According to the Deccan Chronicle, he also said that he hoped to see hockey in the forefront. He said: "I closely follow the sport. I am a big fan of Sardar Singh, the Indian hockey captain and the star of the Delhi team. He gives me a complex when it comes to fitness levels. I wish to endorse the sport not just on paper but would like to train with these players."
