Kiss92 is top English is top English music station

Radio station Kiss92 has emerged as the city-state's No. 1 English music station - barely two years after its launch - in the latest Nielsen radio survey released yesterday.

The new ranking is based on percentage share of listenership, Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), which owns the station, said in a statement yesterday.

Kiss92, which targets women and families, also had its cumulative listenership leap from 151,000 a week, after its September 2012 launch, to 574,000 a week this year. The station overtook Gold 90.5FM to claim the No. 2 spot in cumulative listenership among English radio stations here, behind Class 95FM.

The magic behind the station's success lies in the good mix of old pop songs and current hits, said frequent listener Perry Koh. The 25-year-old gymnastics coach said he spends most of his driving time tuned in to the station for its variety of songs.

Kiss92 provides in-depth women and family content, coupled with adult contemporary music.

Maddy Barber, Jason Johnson and Arnold Gay start the day from 6am to 10am, followed by Claressa Monteiro jazzing things up from 10am to 2pm. Desiree Lai takes to the air waves from 2pm to 4pm, and John Klass rounds out the day from 4pm to 8pm.

The Nielsen survey, which is done twice a year, had all three SPH radio stations - including UFM100.3 and HOT FM91.3 - making it to the top 10 positions.

Mr Sim Hong Huat, deputy general manager of SPH Radio, said: "We are thankful to our fans and partners for supporting us and keeping the momentum going. The team is working on rolling out more exciting campaigns that will engage fans. So, keep a lookout for them."
