SEOUL - Korean actor Lee Min Ho is the biggest draw on DramaFever, the New-York based video-streaming website, reported Yonhap news agency. DramaFever is an online video distributor of dramas and films - with around 70 per cent of them being Korean dramas - garnering over 20 million monthly visitors. Around 65 per cent of them are non-Asian viewers.
"American dramas tend to be dark and violent. But, for Korean soaps, although the scale is not huge, their plots are strong and soft," a director of social media at DramaFever was quoted in a recent interview with Yonhap.
He said Lee is the most popular on the website with all his dramas including Boys Over Flowers, Personal Taste, City Hunter, Faith and The Heirs being hits.
The Heirs, which began streaming in 2013, generated US$1 million (S$1.4 million) in sales within six months after the service began.
"I personally like actor Lee Ki Woo but Lee Min Ho and Kim Woo Bin are the most sought-after actors on the website," said the DramaFever social media director.
