PETALING JAYA: Rumours of the demise of Tan Sri Jins Shamsuddin are untrue, says the son of the veteran actor and film director.
Putera Hang Nadim, 24, denied rumours of his father's death that have gone viral on cyberspace and expressed shock and disappointment against irresponsible quarters who had spread the rumour.
"Assalamualaikum, I strongly deny any rumours regarding the death of my father Jins Shamsudin," he posted on his Facebook page (below) on Thursday, together with a picture of him with both his parents.
The 79-year-old legendary film star, who starred along with Tan Sri P. Ramlee in many films, is battling Alzheimer's disease.
He is married to Puan Sri Halijah Abdullah, 54, and has four sons, Jefri Zain, Hang Tuah @ Shazrin, Putera Hang Jebat and Putera Hang Nadim.
Born on Nov 5, 1935, Jins, a former senator, made a name for himself in the film industry, where he starred in various movies, among them Pancha Delima and Sarjan Hassan.
His career took off and he acted in many films, including Megat Terawis, Lela Manja, Bukit Kepong and Bukan Salah Ibu Mengandong.
He also ventured into directing and made a name in the field as well.
His 1986 hit film Ali Setan, won several awards in the sixth Malaysian Film Festival.
Putera Hang Nadim said that his father was doing well and urged the public the pray for his father's health and well-being.
"Let us pray together so my father will be given good health until the end of his days," he said.
