Liam Neeson: Americans scared of travelling to Europe because of Taken films

It seems that the box office success of Liam Neeson's Taken trilogy has had a reverse effect - on travelling.

The 62-year-old actor, appearing on The Grahan Norton Show, revealed that the hostage-taking theme has turned some people off from travelling to Europe.

"Just the other day I got a letter from a school teacher in Texas who had tried to take 60 students to Europe and the families of 40 of them got the kids out of it because they had seen Taken 2," he said.

In the first film, Neeson's daughter Kim (played by Maggie Grace) was kidnapped in Paris by an Albanian human trafficking ring, while the second movie is based in Istanbul, where Albanian mobsters seek revenge on him after prior events.

The upcoming conclusion to the trilogy, which appears to be based in the US, sees Neeson accused of a murder that he is innocent of.
