SINGAPORE - Homegrown singer-songwriter Derrick Hoh will be a guest judge for the upcoming season of talent show Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt.
The competition is coming to Singapore for its preliminary auditions.
Hoh, who himself broke into the entertainment industry via a similar competition, said he was elated to be part of the hunt for Singapore's next singing sensation.
"Singapore is a hotbed of talents who need platforms such as this to uncover the creative local talents. I will be keeping my eyes open for individuals who can shine not just on stage but off it. Techniques and skills can be polished, but a big heart that comes with talent will be something that I'll be trying to spot," he said in a statement.
Singapore will be the first country in the region to kick off the local auditions, to be held on September 15 at Bugis+ shopping mall.
The reality televised series, into its third season this year, will also stop by Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan to select two contestants from each country.
These contestants will be flown to Seoul, where they will compete against others for a contract deal with Korean entertainment companies CJ E&M and FNC Entertainment. On top of receiving professional training, the finalists will also stand a chance to debut their own single at a New Year countdown show.
Aspiring hopefuls can submit video entries via Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt's official website.
