The Match-up: Katniss vs Tauriel

The Match-up: Katniss vs Tauriel

SINGAPORE- We are living in a golden age for sexy archeresses. In The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, we have the inspirational Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). In The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, there's the feisty Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly). Question is, who are we arrowing as the hottest?

WHO'S GOT SKILLZ?

Katniss: This girl honed her bow skills by hunting game to feed her family, but she is just as good at shooting people. In Catching Fire, we see her really show off her prowess, taking down enemies under brutal circumstances and then unleashing one fateful arrow that changes the course of history.

Tauriel: As good as Katniss is with a bow, Tauriel has an advantage in that she is an elf, and elves are the universe's greatest archers. Tauriel goes to war with orcs, trolls and spiders on a daily basis, and she is capable of unleashing a flurry of arrows in seconds, each finding its target. Plus, she does it all while doing cartwheels and pirouettes.

VERDICT: Tauriel. Elves do not lose archery contests.

WHO'S GOT STYLE?

Katniss: Though she is not the most fashionable gal, Katniss is lucky to have a supreme stylist in Cinna (Lenny Kravitz). This time around, he hooks her up with another of her trademark flaming gowns and creates another outfit that transforms from a bridal gown into a mocking jay-themed ensemble with wings. When she is fighting, Katniss wears a form-fitting wetsuit (I approve).

Tauriel: Unlike the elegant Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) who belongs to the Eldar class of elves, Tauriel is a humble elf. She favours long sleeves and skirts in green and brown, accented with leather boots and wrist guards. Her red hair is pulled straight back from her forehead Here we have a beautiful elf babe who values function just as much as form.

VERDICT: Katniss. She is the epitome of fight-to-the-death chic.

WHO'S GOT SASS?

Katniss: She is a world-class hellraiser. She makes an enemy of the president (Donald Sutherland) by speaking her mind at the most inopportune moments. She shows open defiance to those responsible for the games. She plays the game the way she wants to play it. Her example inspires sassiness in all.

Tauriel: Tauriel has to put up with a lot from her elf king Thranduil (Lee Pace), who refuses to let her get busy with his son Legolas (Orlando Bloom). She responds by flirting with a dwarf, then defies Thranduil by running off to save the hairy little guy's life. This elf maiden follows her heart, consequences be damned.

VERDICT: They are both super sassy lassies.
