Paul Walker's brother may stand in for him

LOS ANGELES - Paul Walker's younger brother, Cody, who has worked as a stuntman before, has been asked to be the Fast & Furious star's stand-in for the franchise's seventh film, The Daily Mail reported over the weekend.

The 40-year-old star was in the midst of filming Fast & Furious 7 when he died in a car crash three weeks ago.

A source told the British newspaper: "Producers had a string of meetings right after Paul's death.

"They soon realised they needed someone who looked like Paul to finish the movie and that's when they approached his nearly identical brother, Cody."

The source added: "They can shoot Cody from behind and at a distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close-up, they can CGI it later on. If Cody agrees, it's because he wants to honour his brother's memory."

Production of the movie had been on hold since the lead actor's death, and Universal executives have held urgent meetings on how to salvage the film, the Hollywood Reporter said last week.

Writer Chris Morgan is reportedly working on revisions to the script, and they are trying to "retire" Paul Walker's character from the series, but it will be a difficult task as Walker was about halfway into filming his scenes, a source said.

The way Walker died - in a horrific car crash - also poses problems for a movie franchise about fast cars.

The star was buried in a private ceremony on Saturday.
