Peter Yu shares his journey of drugs, rehabilitation and marriage

A Shin Min daily report on Friday revealed former Singapore actor Peter Yu's personal history of drug-taking and rehabilitation after divorcing Quan Yi Feng. Yu divorced Quan in 2008. They have a daughter who lives with Quan.

He has since remarried in Oct 2011 and now works as a cab driver, earning $150 daily.

A reader told Shin Min that Yu had shared his drug rehabilitation story in a church publication with fellow church members.

Shin Min daily contacted Yu to obtain his approval to publish photos of his second marriage and share his story.

According to Yu, he led a chaotic life as he sank into depression. He abused drugs, partied, and gambled. His business also failed and he overspent.

His mother's passing and money troubles, including alimony, also dealt many heavy blows.

Withdrawing from society, he kept to himself and took drugs with his then-girlfriend.

It was only when her life came to shambles that his then-girlfriend sought relief at a church. He joined her church and changed for the better.

He learnt to disregard criticism and make an honest living driving a taxi. He also learnt to be responsible and to appreciate family ties.
