Korean hip-hop megastars BigBang's concert here during the Formula One entertainment weekend is a reunion show of sorts for them.
Members of the quintet have mostly been pursuing their own solo activities this year. More prominent among these are band leader G-Dragon's One Of A Kind solo world tour while Seungri released his second solo album, Let's Talk About Love.
But rather than seeing one another as competition, the South Korean band tell Life! in an e-mail that their solo activities are "positive influences".
T.O.P., 25, says: "We are inspired and positively stimulated from each other's solo activities."
While the boys do not necessarily contact one another during the hiatus from their BigBang duties, Seungri, 22, says: "We've known one another for such a long time, we don't really have to say much to one another. But the point is that as long as we know that we are here for each other, that's all that matters".
Case in point: When BigBang, which made their debut in August 2006, recently celebrated the group's seventh anniversary, they called one another to offer mutual congratulations.
They are the headlining act on Sept 20 at the Padang Stage at the 2013 Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.
The quintet, which also comprise Taeyang, 25, and Daesung, 24, have built up a massive following here. Their two-night engagement for the BigBang Alive Galaxy Tour here in October last year was sold out.
G-Dragon, T.O.P and Seungri previously performed at the Padang Stage at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix in 2011 to a 25,000-strong audience.
G-Dragon, 25, also recently came to Singapore to perform two nights at his solo concert in late June.
While here, he was spotted at the casinos at Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, but he declined to say in the e-mail whether he will be visiting those places when he is here with the group.
After the F1 gig here, the group will be tied up with their 6 Dome Tour, performing at Japan's six biggest concert venues from Nov 16 to mid-January. They are the first foreign artist to embark on a Japanese tour of this scale.
