As excited as we are about the big-name international fashion designers heading to Singapore for Audi Fashion Festival 2014, we are equally psyched about the homegrown designers getting their moment in the spotlight at Singapore's major fashion event.
There's no better place than home to show off your best work and that's what three Singaporean designers will be doing at the Singapore Designers Showcase (SDS) runway show.
Aijek, AWOL and Triologie are set to present their collections at the Tent @ Orchard on May 17, 2014, as part of Audi Fashion Festival.
Organised by the Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFt) and supported by Spring Singapore, the SDS is a curation of some of the best of Singapore fashion for the runway.
Danelle Woo, Aijek's designer will present her Autumn Winter 2014 collection as part of the showcase.
Woo, who's known for easy-to-wear pieces made with sustainable fabrics, has been living outside Singapore and pieces together the reality of life and fantasy of dreams for her aptly named "Fly Home" collection.
As for AWOL (All Walks of Life), designer Alfie Leong looks to the past, present and future for inspiration.
AWOL's Autumn Winter 2014 collection "State of Mind" will feature Leong's signature draping and layering.
The collection was first shown during Seoul Fashion Week as part of the Singapore Showcase for AW14-15 and was very well received.
Sylvia Lim and Jennifer Neo, the creative forces behind Triologie step back into the past for their Spring Summer 2014.
The duo samples the best of the Eighties - think of trends like the Rubik's Cube and personalities like the late Diana, Princess of Wales - and combine them with pop colours to great effect in the fun "Kaleidoscope" collection.
The Singapore Designers Showcase is a by-invite-only and event will take place on May 17, 2014 at 5pm at Tent@Orchard. For more information, go to www.audifashionfestival.com.
