Stars put their best foot forward at new Charles & Keith boutique

First up were Filipino fashion blogger Bryanboy and China stylist-blogger Han Huo Huo. They were followed by China model Liu Wen and local celebrities Zoe Tay and Fann Wong and Sheila Sim.

The loudest screams, however, were reserved for Korean-American actor Daniel Henney and South Korean girl group, Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon, Seoyeon and Yuri, who were the last to appear.

Togged out in the latest Charles & Keith footwear, the stars were attending the official opening of the home-grown shoe chain's newest boutique at Ngee Ann City.

After the launch, the stars adjourned to a white tent at the atrium of Ngee Ann City, where they watched a fashion parade of Charles & Keith's Autumn/Winter '13 collection and later took part in an aftershow party.

The event was attended by about 700 people, including celebrity couple Melody Chen and Randall Tan, photographer Russel Wong, TV personality Anita Kapoor and beauty chain owner Jean Yip.

It is the first time that the brand has launched such a large-scale opening in Singapore, though such big launches are not uncommon for the opening of boutiques in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

The brand's marketing manager Michelle Leong, says: "Singapore is becoming a vibrant fashion city like that of Tokyo and Hong Kong, hence, we feel that this is the right time for Charles & Keith to host such an event in Singapore."

The newest outlet at Takashimaya shopping centre has a retail space of 170 sq m and is the brand's 389th boutique across the world, including Korea, Japan and China.

The brand has been expanding rapidly since 2011, when L Capital Asia, the private equity arm of luxury goods group Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH), bought a stake in the brand. The brand, owned by brothers Charles and Keith Wong, opened its first store at Amara Hotel in 1996.
