Taiwan host, who lost girlfriend to heart disease, found dead at age 25

The 25-year-old host of Taiwan variety programme "Taiwan Taste" has died in a suspected suicide.

Jack Luck, a Taiwan-based Australian-Korean model, was found hanging from a rope on the balcony of his home on Wednesday (Jan 20) morning. He was rushed to the hospital but declared dead shortly after.

Luck was reportedly depressed and had trouble sleeping after his girlfriend died from a heart condition two years ago, Apple Daily said.

The Taipei Times reported that Luck left messages in his phone describing how miserable he had been after his girlfriend died.

Luck was living with his brother, Sam, as the latter wanted to watch over him, the news website reported.

Sam Luck reportedly told Taiwan news media that his brother did not display any warning signs and appeared normal during a conversation the night before the incident.

Although he did not seem emotionally distraught, it seems the model had tried to reach out to some friends before taking his own life.

Singer Miko of pop group By2 said on Instagram that Luck had messaged her before he died, but she had missed the messages and only saw them when it was too late.

A screenshot showed that he sent her a message at 4.42am asking: "Are you here?" After a couple more messages, Luck wrote at 4.50am: "Forget it. Everything. Take care".

Miko said in the post that she couldn't believe her friend had died.

"Got your text this morning... It was too late when I saw it," she wrote.

"My dear Jack, if only I was there when you needed me," she added.

After news of Luck's death spread, Sam Luck left a message for his brother's fans on his Facebook page, urging for them to tell their loved ones how much they cared.

He said: "I am utterly broken at the sudden passing of such a wonderful human being, my incredible brother Jack. It is in these times that I ask that you tell those around you how much you admire them, how proud they make you feel and how much you love them."

"My family and I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming love and support and respectfully ask for privacy in these difficult times."
