UFM100.3 to launch new campaign to help needy

SINGAPORE - UFM100.3 will launch a new year-long campaign, UShine, later this month to address different social causes and issues every month on-air.

The radio station intends to highlight issues involving minority communities and raise awareness to help the less privileged, UFM 100.3 said in a press release on Friday.

Fans of UFM100.3 will be able to follow the radio presenters as they go and help the needy within the community through monthly features.

This year, the radio presenters will feature their experience and interviews everyday on-air for a period of two weeks, hoping to generate publicity for the beneficiary or community of the month.

Carine Ang, Program Director of UFM100.3, SPH Radio, said: "I am thrilled that our DJs will be sharing their firsthand experience at volunteering with their listeners and fans this time round. Through the UShine programme, we hope that UFM100.3 listeners will become more aware of the less fortunate around us and extend their care towards them."

She will launch January's edition of UShine with the focus on Lion Befrienders' Befriending Program where volunteers will keep the elderly company by making home visits.

The January edition will air from Jan 12 to 23 at four timeslots: 7.30am, 11.30am, 4.30pm and 8.30pm.

A volunteering event on Jan 24 will round off this month's edition. 50 listeners will join UFM100.3 radio presenters and volunteers as they conduct home visits around the Bendemeer area.

Other upcoming features include overseas volunteer work, saving street dogs and caring for the environment.
