Winning bid is music to the ears for karaoke-loving family

PETALING JAYA - Lee Siat Ping is all smiles after winning the 60-inch Samsung LED TV in the third series of The Star's Bid & Win promotion.

The prize presentation held yesterday was attended by Lee, 43, who was accompanied by her husband Chris Phang and their three children.

Lee said they loved singing and would use the television for their karaoke sessions.

"I am really happy to win the television," said Lee, who runs a retail pharmacy business with Phang.

Wan Zuridah Awang @ Yaakob, 30, who won a Sony Xperia Z Smartphone, said the phone's advanced features would be useful for her job as a hypermarket salesperson.

She said she was currently using a normal handphone with limited features.

The other winners were Ernest Chan Soon Peng, who won a Samsung Galaxy 2 Tab 10.1, Shawn Khor Khai Yee a Samsung Note II and Kwan Chooi Ching a Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook.

Yvonne Lim Lay Tin and Tan Poh Heng each won a RM500(S$195) Alliance Bank Deposits account and a one-year The Star bundle subscription worth RM360 for the special prize category.

Star Publications Bhd's operations director Roshan Thiran and Nasim Sdn Bhd marketing and communications senior manager Dennis Michael presented the prizes.

From June 17 until Aug 11, The Star readers can bid for prizes ranging from lifestyle to electronic products, with the "Merdeka grand prize" being two Peugeot 408 Turbo cars.

The promotion is held in conjunction with the Merdeka celebrations.

For the current final fourth series, all Alliance Bank deposit account holders will be entitled to a bonus 10,000 Star Points. In addition, the total number of special prizes have been increased from the usual 10 to 56 to commemorate the nation's 56th anniversary of independence.

Alliance Bank and Naza Group of Companies' subsidiary Nasim are the partners of the promotion.
