SINGAPORE Former Member of Parliament Cynthia Phua has joined real estate consultancy Knight Frank Singapore as its executive director of retail services.
Knight Frank said on Wednesday that Mdm Phua's role will be to help "strengthen and grow the capabilities" of the team. She will be involved in all aspects of retail services from consultancy to leasing and business development.
"We are pleased to have Cynthia on board," said Danny Yeo, group managing director of Knight Frank Singapore.
"She brings with her an in-depth knowledge and experience in managing retail projects especially in the area of leasing and consultancy."
Before joining Knight Frank, Mdm Phua was general manager of NTUC Fairprice Co-operative's real estate business unit, and had also been managing director of estate management company SLF Management Services, now known as One Marina Property Services.
She had also served as chief executive officer of Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council and chairman of Aljunied Town Council. Mdm Phua was a People's Action Party MP for Aljunied Group Representation Constituency between 2001 and 2011.
Mr Yeo said the firm hopes to tap Mdm Phua's connections and expertise to expand its retail service offerings, with the ongoing rejuvenation of Orchard Road and growing demand for suburban malls.
With her appointment, Peter See-Toh, managing director of Knight Frank Shopping Centre Management (KFSCM), who was previously overseeing the retail services team at Knight Frank Singapore, will now focus solely on KFSCM.
