Fake royal awarding titles for up to $33,000 each

AN individual, who called himself the "Agong of Nusantara", has been awarding fake Datukships, Mingguan Malaysia reported.

The individual, said to be from Johor, had worked as a traditional healer before he transformed himself into a fake royal in 2011.

Since then, he has been known as "Sri Sultan Notobroto Nusantara" while his wife is known as "Kanjeng Sri Ratu Notobroto".

The daily said that since 2012, the fake royalty has awarded hundreds of "Datuk" and "Datuk Seri" titles to Malaysians.

A source told the daily: "To get the title 'Datuk', the price would be around RM35,000(S$11,716), while a 'Datuk Seri' would fetch from RM95,000 to RM100,000 each."
