Fandi, Bok in LionsXII shortlist

Fandi, Bok in LionsXII shortlist

After receiving more than 70 applications for the LionsXII coaching post, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has started interviewing shortlisted candidates.

The original list has now been trimmed to six and it is believed two Singaporeans - former national captain Fandi Ahmad and four-time S-League winning coach Richard Bok - are among those who have made the cut.

An FAS spokesman said on Tuesday: "The FAS has begun interviewing candidates for the position of the head coach of LionsXII. The announcement for the new coach will be made before the end of this month."

FAS general secretary Winston Lee, national coach Bernd Stange and national technical director Slobodan Pavkovic are on the selection panel.

The shortlisted candidates are expected to take a written test set by Stange, 65.

The new coach will take over from V. Sundramoorthy, who led the LionsXII to the Malaysian Super League title this year.
