SINGAPORE - A senior product manager from the Philippines has emerged the winner of the first The Apprentice Asia.

Jonathan Allen Yabut, 27, was picked by Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes after a final round of competition against Singaporean lawyer Andrea Loh. Their task was to organise a black-tie charity fund raiser for the AirAsia Foundation.

The show, which concluded on AXN on Wednesday night, originally featured a total of 12 contestants from different sectors across Asia.

Yabut has won himself the opportunity to work at one of the enterprises owned by the aviation tycoon Tony Fernandes.

The University of Philippines Economics graduate emerged the winner after a total of 10 boardroom trials and tasks which tested contestants' abilities in sales, negotiation, creativity, management, marketing, leadership and mettle.

He said: "Winning The Apprentice Asia is the perfect springboard to build a fulfilling career and I am excited to work for Mr. Fernandes."

Shot in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, the Asian adaptation of the US reality series was helmed by reality TV guru, Mark Burnett and FremantleMedia Asia.
