Flood in Tampines mall

Flood in Tampines mall

Yesterday afternoon's thunderstorm caused a shopping mall to flood and several trees to topple.

Mr Kelvin Tiong, who called The New Paper hotline, said he was at Tampines Mall when parts of the building began flooding.

It was unclear where the water was coming from, he said. But there was water on the floors of the second and third storeys of the mall.

The flood resulted in a long queue at the Golden Village ticketing booth, where moviegoers were trying to get a refund for their tickets.

Across the island, at least three trees fell during the thunderstorm.

TNP reader Jenny Gan said she had to make a detour after a tree fell outside Siglap Centre, blocking the road. While no one was injured, she said traffic was held up.

Another tree fell at Holland Avenue and blocked a sheltered walkway, Channel NewsAsia reported, and a third one was uprooted in Kaki Bukit Avenue 4, which also held up traffic.
